Higher Learning and National Education Minister, Marwan Hamade, welcomed on Friday a senior EU delegation, including EU Ambassador to Lebanon, Christina Lassen, and EU Commission's Director of International Cooperation at the Directorate of General Research and Innovation, Maria Cristina Russ.

Talks reportedly focused on the European Union's Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) program, and what it entails to implement this program in Lebanon, especially at the level of water and food security.

The European delegation highlighted the paramount importance of having Lebanon partake in this program, especially looking at the high competencies that Lebanese researchers enjoy.

The delegation also relayed the EU's willingness to provide support to Lebanese projects at the aforementioned levels.

In turn, Minister Hamadeh underlined the substantial need to activate work within these scientific axes. He promised to support these initiatives in all their regulatory activities and to ensure a wider contribution of researchers through the National Council for Scientific Research, the Lebanese University, and private universities.
