The foreign affairs minister of Oman has affirmed his country’s support for the government of President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, it has been reported by Al-Arabia. Yusuf Bin Alawi made his statement in the wake of extensive silence about the Saudi-led coalition’s military advancements against the Houthis in Yemen.
Omani officials also told Yemen’s Deputy Prime Minister Abdulmalik Al-Mekhlafi that the government in Muscat backs all of the efforts to provide security and stability, and protect the territorial integrity of Yemen.
Oman’s support for Hadi comes after Abu Dhabi and Dubai reiterated the UAE’s backing for a Southern Transitional Council without the president-in-exile. Former Aden governor Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, who was dismissed from his post recently, has been “appointed” as the council’s president.
